APPLE PEELING SYSTEM
Apple Peeler, Corer, Slicer

The Atlas Pacific Automatic Apple Peeler feeds, orients, cores and peels at speeds up to 130 apples per minute. It is specifically designed to peel all varieties of apples and to produce the highest yield possible through Sensor Peel technology.

Each peeler can be configured to produce wedge slices, ring slices, or whole peeled apples. The machine is rugged and is able to withstand the rigours of a long processing season.

Apple Peeling System

All machines meet OHSA and UL508 requirements. Machines bearing the CE mark (not shown) are also available.

Machine Operation
The feed system delivers apples to the orienting table, which through the work of serrated spindles, orients the apples in an upright position. As the table rotates and the apples reach the pickup point, fruit that is not properly aligned for peeling is automatically rejected and can be returned to the feed system, while properly positioned apples are picked up by one of the stations on the rotating peeling column.

The peeling column consists of 6 peeling stations each equipped with a Sensor Peel head. The peeling pressure is controlled pneumatically to assure precision peeling for delicate, overripe fruit as well as preventing hard, immature fruit from cracking off the spindles. These blades are assisted by precision ground ceramic guards which guide the cutters over the contours of the apple. This assures that only a thin layer of peel is removed. Together these features produce maximum fruit recovery regardless of fruit shape, size or maturity.

The peeler is designed with interchangeable core tubes to allow for adjustment of core size from 5/8" to 1" in diameter, ensuring both flexibility and precision of operation. The coring operation takes place on the peeling column after the peeling is complete. After peeling and coring operations are completed, the apples may either be discharged to the peeled fruit belt or transferred to the optional attached slicer.

System Features and Options
Hydrofeed System
With a capacity of 500 pounds of fruit, the Hydrofeed unit can be loaded in bulk, by conveyor belt, by flume or by elevator. Its automatic level control regulates the volume of apples to be fed into the peeler, floating them into the immersed pockets of the feeder chain which then conveys them to the 18-pocket orienting table of the Peeler Unit.

Dry Feed System
Also available is a dry feed system designed to significantly reduce the system water requirements. Similar to the Hydrofeed, the dry feed will accept fruit from the customers conveyor belt or elevator and, through the use of a sensor, regulate the flow of fruit into the machine.

Wedge Slicer
The attached wedge slicer has a processing capacity of 115 apples per minute and is mounted directly onto the peeler.

The apples are mechanically transferred into the rotating turret which moves the fruit to the seed cell station where the entire seed pocket is removed. The turret then positions the apple over the slicer where the plunger pushes the fruit through the blades and onto the take away conveyor. This results in clean uniform segments. The slicer can be easily disabled to allow for independent operation of the peeling-coring unit.

Ring Slicer
The peeling system is also available with an attached ring slicer. This unit is capable of producing several different thicknesses of slices for both peeled and unpeeled apples.

Apple Counter System
As an option, Atlas Pacific offers an apple counter system which senses and reports machine throughput, successfully peeled or sliced apples and rejected apples. Through the use of a PC located on the plant floor, maintenance personnel are better able to monitor the performance of the peeler fleet. This saves maintenance time as machines out of adjustment can be identified quickly. The system is Windows based and is capable of downloading management information directly to the users business system.
